The nearest railway station is Rishikesh, located 212 km away from Sonprayag, the base for the trek to Kedarnath. From the station, you can easily hire a cab or take local transportation to Guptkashi, a common stopover point. Rishikesh is well-connected to railway lines across the country. From Guptkashi, continue towards Sonprayag to begin the trek.

You can begin your journey from Haridwar or Rishikesh to Guptkashi, with regularly available state-run buses and rental vehicles. Many travel agents also offer these services at competitive prices. From Guptkashi, you can then proceed to Sonprayag.
